Most tapestries require very less maintenance. It is important to keep a few tips in mind while caring for tapestries. While placing the tapestry it is always better to choose a shaded area in the room. Tapestries need to be kept away from direct sunlight. Sunlight is often known to damage the texture of the cloth while also causing the colors to fade. It is more preferable to use a steam iron to remove creases from tapestries other than using direct heat. Always iron over the back side of tapestries, this could prevent the heat from directly damaging the patterns. However once the tapestry is hung, it would only require soft brushing or occasional vacuuming to get rid of the dust that accumulates. In dining rooms, tapestries should be kept at a safe distance away from areas where food spills could occur.
